So Thursday the 10th the Baroness and I got up wicked early and drove out to Providence to catch a flight down to Texas. Unfortunately time and money was short so we had a whirlwind itinerary; first fly to Huston, then drive to West Columbia in a rented car to visit with BVH's aunt and uncle, then out to San Antonio to see Diomedes of Maine/NYC/San Antonio and Captain Teeth (I may finally have a good nickname there) and then out to Austin to go to Z's wedding. Things went moderately according to plan.

So on my way back from NYC a couple of weekends ago, I noticed the back of my right thigh was a little tender. I thought it was no big deal, but by Tuesday it was getting pretty rough. BVH though it was a cyst, I thought it was the Flesh Eating Bacteria, the upshot was that nothing was done. By Wednesday night it was about the size of a quarter, a lump, that was hot to the touch. So I still waited until after the doctor's office was closed to call, and so they set me up to go in on Thursday. I go in on Thursday, and that lump is now surrounded by about 3 inches of inflamed tissue, we're talking purplish red here. So I get put on an antibiotic, get sent home, and have a follow up the next day.

I watched The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane again on Sunday night with the Ant Queen and Dr. Kimenstein. Not sure how much they dug it, but it certainly was fun watching it again for me. I actually forgot where a lot of things happened, so there were still surprises.

I went to CT over the weekend and played in the second game of a WH40K campaign. We're still on the "spread out across the map, gain territory and forces, try to buy off the tribes in the area to aid you" phase of things. I am slightly better off than I was last time, but I'm still probably in the worst position of the group. I'm going to try to continue to be cautious, however, and to gain as much territory and position as possible before I make my move.

I also went to Long Island, and we settled some more wedding stuff. Getting closer to being finished-in fact last night I got my suit and shoes for the wedding-a nice khaki linen suit, with a greenish shirt with stripes and tie that matches the Baroness's dress. I think I'll end up looking quite fly, if maybe not quite Cadillac fly.

...Beg's announcement reminded me that I meant to put together an LJ-entry of my favorite reactions to the Baroness and I's announcement, partially because I don't want to forget the amusing ones. So here they are, anonymous to protect the innocent:

The big news of the last week is that the Baroness and I are tying the knot this fall. I proposed while we were in New Hampshire. Just a little disclaimer-the trip's original purpose was not to be a romantic getaway in which I smarmly warmed the good lady up and then proposed in some disgustingly romantic fashion. The Baroness and I previously discussed the idea (when your siblings are getting married you tend to end up in discussions about how you'd do it) and I knew that niether of us favored any sort of large or public proposal. We evil masterminds just don't have a heart for such a thing. In any case she said yes, and I'm very happy that we're going to be doing this. I have been very lucky to find her.
